I don’t know about you but at the start of every year I get the urge to reinvent my entire wardrobe. I don’t know if it’s all the sales or the new beginnings but it’s always a desire of mine at this time of year. So, I thought I’d share some tips for eco-friendly fashion so you can update your style without harming the planet!
My first eco-friendly fashion tip is that charity shops are your best friend! You can always get cute clothes for such low prices, sometimes even designer clothes which can be a bonus. Equally, you don’t get the guilt of spending money because you’re donating to charity! Alternatively, if you prefer to shop online use a second hand store like depop or vinted. They are both cheap and you’re helping out real people by buying clothes that they no longer want.
If you have a higher budget, my next eco-friendly fashion tip is to search for sustainable fashion brands! There’s loads on pinterest and instagram. Equally a lot of small businesses are more sustainable! For example, I always source my jackets second-hand and all orders are made to order meaning that no products are wasted! Also, since the pieces can be personalised it means that most people feel very positively about the clothing and accessories so they want to keep and wear them long term. Additionally, if slow fashion brands aren’t an option for you because of your budget or the lack of sizing inclusivity, try to buy staple and versatile pieces from fast fashion brands. That way you will keep these pieces for years and you can use them for multiple different outfits and styles which should stop you from getting bored of them.
My final eco-friendly fashion tip comes from the angle of decluttering your wardrobe! If there are clothes that you just aren’t feeling anymore but they’re still good quality it’s always good to donate them to charity shops or women’s shelters so they don’t just go into landfill. Or, if you want a bit of extra cash, you could try selling them on vinted or depop.
I hope these tips are helpful to you! I hope you’re all happy and healthy this year!
