I thought I would take you through my process of how we go from an idea through to the completed custom painted jacket!!
Firstly, the customer comes to me with some ideas of things they like, any images, quotes, lyrics etc that I can take inspiration from. You can either message me on instagram, through my website or email me, whatever works best for you! We have a discussion about it and come up with ideas together. I can't sell anything that is copyrighted so if it's a song or film etc that they like, I will take inspiration from this and we come up with an idea that isn't about to get me su£d!!!
The customer also lets me know what size and colour jacket they would like. I mostly get second hand jackets and upcycle them, as creating new denim is bad for the environment, so can get whatever size needed!
I can also paint jackets that they already own for a slightly discounted price! They just have to send the jacket to me for me to paint!
Next, I create a draft, or two, depending on the ideas that we've come up with! I also will order the jacket that they require at this stage. Taking something that is no longer wanted by someone but is still good quality, and re-purposing it into something someone else will love is a much better way of running a business!! I wash all of the jackets when they arrive and before I start painting!!
Once we have agreed on a design and the customer is 100% happy with the draft, they make the purchase so I can move forward with painting!
I use acrylic paint mixed with fabric medium which I finish up by setting it with heat, with a hair dryer and by ironing on the reverse side! I keep my customers updated throughout the process!
Once the jacket is completely finished and the customer is 100%, I take some pictures and then send it off to them as soon as possible! I send all my orders off with a thank you card and a freebie to show how appreciative I am of every single order!
